FCF News for January 18,
2007
Thanks to all who participated and helped out as we had a great time
at the 2007 Frontier Adventure/Trace and held Wilderness and Buckskin
testing. Read all about the great times we had there if you were unfortunate
to miss it or just want to reminisce.
The Jim Bowie FCF Chapter held Wilderness Testing from Thursday Noon
through Friday morning January 11 & 12, 2007. The testing was run
by Ted "Eagle Eye" Romero with his staff of helpers Rev. Nelson
"Snake Hunter" Jones, Manson "Lighthouse" Reynolds,
Rev. Randy "Spider" Henry, Lee "Red Dog" Hernandez,
Rodney "Eagle Scout" Eaton, Rev. David "Red Fox"
Craun, Daniel "Ropecutter" DeYoung, and Lee "T-Kuto"
Robinson. There were 4 extra helpers who kept the camp running while
the staff and candidates were running the Wilderness. Thanks to James
Anders, Will Harper, Kolt "Little Bit" Kays (YB), and Jay
"Chattering Fox" Boudloche (YB) for the extra help. The Weather
was clear, dry, and just cool enough to make it pleasant.
The candidates for Wilderness were Joseph "Candle" Reynolds
(YB), Richmond "Lone Wolf" Zaragoza (YB), Rev. Lloyd "Swamp
Walker" Boudloche, Preston "Hunts With Stick" Anders,
Steven "Tenderheart" Boyer, Rodger "Sod Buster"

and 5 Old Timers.
The new Wilderness testing was used with great success. All seven Candidates
passed to the Wilderness level. Congratulations to all of the new Wilderness
Members! There were 9 Old Timers, 2 Young Bucks, and 2 Guests (not in
FCF yet) in attendance as staff and helpers.

through the Frontier Adventure and all candidates completed the Frontier
Adventure and are now full Frontiersmen members of the Jim Bowie FCF
Chapter of the Frontiersman Camping Fellowship. The Frontier Adventure
was run by Rev. Nelson "Snake Hunter" Jones, Rodney "Eagle
Scout" Eaton, and Rev. David "Red Fox" Craun with the
staff of Ted "Eagle Eye" Romero, Manson "Lighthouse"

Lloyd "Swamp Walker" Boudloche, Preston "Hunts With Stick"

Congratulations to the new Frontiersmen. There were 4 Old Timers and
6 Young Bucks to complete the Frontier Adventure.
Our many thanks go to Preston "Hunts With Stick" Anders and
the cooking staff for the wonderful food. There were 17 Old Timers,
3 Young Bucks, and 1 Guest in attendance to help run the Frontier Adventure.
The new Buckskin Testing was held this year to test the skills of those
wishing to rise to the level of Buckskin. The new testing was run by
Manson "Lighthouse" Reynolds and Lee "T-Kuto" Robinson.
They had various helpers to help with the process. The candidates were
Loren "Benchmark" Klein, Stephen "Bear Scout" Remides,
and Mike "Turtle Hunter" Miller - all Old Timers. All three
passed the new testing regimen and are now Buckskin Member of Jim Bowie
FCF Chapter.
The Jim Bowie FCF Chapter Winter Trace was held after the completion
of the Frontier Adventure at the Woodworth, La. Camp Grounds on January
13 & 14, 2007. The Trace was dedicated to Alfred "Woodcutter"
Norman who went to be with the Lord on July 28, 2006. Woodcutter had
been a great inspiration to many FCF member and well as Royal Ranger
Leaders throughout his time in Royal Rangers and FCF. Woodcutter was
the Jim Bowie FCF Chapter Wilderness Rep since January 1996. Woodcutter
will be greatly missed! We had another Great Royal Ranger Leader and
FCF member to take their Final Trek to be with the Lord this year. On
December 31, 2006 Rev. D.E. "Grey Squirrel" Stroud left us
to get his reward in Heaven. Grey Squirrel will also be greatly missed!
He did so much for Royal Rangers and FCF that it is hard to list them
all. He inspired many to rise to serve the Lord with their whole heart.
There was a slight Rain Saturday night with a few mist showers early
on Sunday. There were 20 Old Timers, 9 Young Bucks, and 5 Guests in
attendance. We had as our speaker Rev. Randy "Spider" Henry
on Saturday night with a thought provoking message from God and a Great
Prayer Time afterward! A Buckskin Ceremony was held on Saturday night
with the three new Buckskin members being welcomed to Buckskin.
At the Jim Bowie FCF Chapter Annual Business meeting Sunday morning,
we had lots of business to go over. We had an opening devotion by Rev.
Randy "Spider" Henry. Then it was down to business. There
were several Chapter positions that need to be filled. After elections
and appointments, the following are the Jim Bowie FCF Chapter officers
for 2007:
Chairman - Rev. David "Red Fox" Craun
President - Rev. Nelson "Snake Hunter" Jones
Vice President - Rev. Randy "Spider" Henry
Scribe - Rodney "Eagle Scout" Eaton
Wilderness Rep - Manson "Lighthouse" Reynolds
Buckskin Rep - Lee "T-Kuto" Robinson
Historian - Ed "Spiritual Bear" Tatum
Company Clerk - Lansing "Sunshine" Zaragoza
Scout - Kolt "Little Bit" Kays
Asst. Scout - Joseph "Candle" Reynolds
Frontier Adventure Coordinator - to be filled
Our Previous Scout Richmond "Lone Wolf" Zaragoza was elected
as the Territorial Scout so Asst. Scout Kolt "Little Bit"
Kays was moved up to fill the Scout Term. A new Asst. Scout, Joseph
"Candle" Reynolds, was elected. Vice President Rodney "Eagle
Scout" Eaton resigned to take the position of Scribe vacated by
Gary "Two Edge" Baynes who was displaced by hurricane Katrina.
Many thanks to "Two Edge" for his many years of service to
the Jim Bowie FCF Chapter as Scribe. Rev. Randy "Spider" Henry
was elected the new Vice President. Due to the death of Alfred "Woodcutter"
Norman, a new Wilderness Rep was appointed by the Chapter Membership
- Manson "Lighthouse" Reynolds. Due to the new appointment
of Manson "Lighthouse" Reynolds to Wilderness Rep, Lee "T-Kuto"
Robinson was appointed the new Buckskin Rep. Historian Ed "Spiritual
Bear" Tatum and Company Clerk Lansing "Sunshine" Zaragoza
were reappointed to their positions. Please remember that all Old Timer
Chapter Officers must complete the Chapter Officers Notebook. Please
contact Ted "Eagle Eye" Romero, the Territorial Rep, for the
paperwork and requirements. We are expecting a great year out of the
new officers as well as lots of work and dedication!!
After December each year, FCF members become inactive until current
dues are paid. According to official guidelines, a delinquent FCF member
must pay two (2) years back due and the current year dues to become
current. If a member is delinquent for one (1) year, he will only be
required to pay one (1) year back dues and current year dues. Those
in active duty military service are considered active with their dues
waived as long as they remain on active due in the military. Dues for
2007 (and previous delinquent years) are$13.00 for Young Bucks (under
18) and $20.00 for Old Timers (18 and up). 2008 dues will increase to
$15.00 for Young Bucks and $25.00 for Old Timers. Please pay all dues
to Rev. Nelson "Snake Hunter" Jones, 9421 McCowin Rd., Bastrop,
LA 71220-7152.
If you are attending the Regional Conference on February 2 & 3,
2007, please get your registration forms in ASAP.
We found that many of the Trapper's Brigade points were not being processed
for FCF. These points are very important to the health of FCF and Royal
Rangers at the District, Regional, and National levels. Please turn
in your points as you earn them. We have set up the Trapper's Brigade
Points form on the web site to help with the turnaround of the points.
There is now a Trapper's Brigade Points Review Committee to review the
points and award those points that meet the requirements. The Trapper's
Brigade Points Review Committee members are Rodney "Eagle Scout"
Eaton, Rev. Nelson "Snake Hunter" Jones, Will Harper, Daniel
"Ropecutter" DeYoung, and Stephens Ernst. Points will only
be awarded after review and approval of the committee.
To help keep up with the many changes in our Royal Ranger and FCF lives,
a new Member Information Form has been added to the web site. Please
fill out the form and email or mail to Rodney "Eagle Scout"
Eaton at REaton1@lsuhsc.edu so the information can be entered on the
Jim Bowie database. Please send in an updated form when the information
about you changes. You do not have to enter all of the form for updates,
only the selected data items.
