Thirteen Candidates total came to go through the Jim Bowie Chapter November Frontier Adventure.  We held this event to set the time for future Frontier Adventures as they will be held in November separate from the Trace from now on.  All Candidates passed and are now full Frontiersmen Members in the Jim Bowie Chapter of Frontiersman Camping Fellowship.  Spider (Rev. Randy Henry) was our Speaker Saturday Night and Sunday morning.  He did a Great job in inspiring us to keep God First and taking on the mantle of service.  The weather was sunny, breezy, and cool to cold at night.

Spider (Rev. Randy Henry) was in charge of running the Frontier Adventure.  We give many thanks to Lighthouse (Manson Reynolds) for his untiring serving in bandaging up all of our cuts and scrapes.  We had no major emergencies.  Lighthouse (Manson Reynolds) also served as the Candidates’ Bourgeois and did an excellent job.  Hunts With Stick (Preston Anders) was in charge of all of the good eats and did a great job supervising the kitchen and his staff.  Many thanks to all of the staff who made sure we had all of the necessities to run a smooth camp.

We ran the November Frontier Adventure using the new National Guidelines that we learned at our Frontier Adventure Certification Training during the Regional Conference.  It went very well.  The NMLRA Black Powder Course was put off until Sunday morning so only members attended as the Candidates were welcomed into Frontiersman Camping Fellowship during the Council Fire Service Saturday evening.  The Candidates were tested according to the new guidelines to earn their 3 beads in order to pay for their FCF Pin.

Thanks to all who sent their Prayers for this event.  God richly Blessed each and every one of those attending.  The Council Fire Service, Words, and Prayer Saturday night were an Awesome move of God!  We have brought in 63 new members into the Jim Bowie Chapter overall this year.  The Jim Bowie Chapter Leadership discussed switching the Buckskin and Wilderness Advancement to the November Frontier Adventure from now on.  This is to start next November as we will still be holding the Buckskin and Wilderness advancements in January 2009.

Courses Held:   Traps; Flint & Steel fire making; Outfits; Made Chokers; Hawk Throw; Knife Throw; Primitive Shelters; held Friday night and Saturday with a Trail Walk Testing ending the training.  A NMLRA Black Powder Course was held Sunday morning by Red Dog (Lee Hernandez) and T-Kuto (Lee Robinson).

Primitive Shelters: Hunter – 7, Wall Tents – 5, Whelan – 1, & Marquee – 1.

Trappers Brigade Hours are being gathered and posted for all who helped with the 2008 November Frontier Adventure and are active dues paying members of the Jim Bowie Chapter FCF.  There were a total of 1,183 Trapper’s Brigade Hours earned by 29 Current and new Members during the Frontier Adventure.

Respectively Submitted,
