Louisiana District Royal Rangers Goals
Louisiana Royal Rangers is a multi-faceted ministry. We work on many fronts to minister to the total needs of boys and the leaders of boys. Our district has expanded the national ministry statement for our purpose. Our desire is to develop and carry out ministry that reaches, teaches, keeps, and sends forth boys for Christ. We are building tomorrow’s leaders in today’s outposts. So much of what we do after we reach the boy for Christ is providing an atmosphere for the young man to develop into a leader for God. The local advancement system encourages development of a desire to achieve, a desire to make a difference in our world for the glory of God. Activities, camps, Adventure Academy and a host of other types of involvement all help mold leadership qualities. Our district slogan describes what we are about: “Pointing the Way: Giving purpose, direction, and values to boys.” Our district (state of Louisiana) structures leadership training and specialty gatherings with this slogan in mind. The Louisiana District (state) is part of a national and international program. As such we are the stewards to forward national programming to local groups. We are also the funnel to direct local needs to the national level. Since Royal Rangers is in over 70 countries of the world, part of our ministry is to support the international thrust. Projects and events that help boys become aware of what is taking place around the world are part of our vision. As a channel to provide for national ministry on a state level, we are a self-chartering district; that is, we are under contract to assist the national office charter local groups. Chartering is processed locally and sent to the state office where it is collected before sending it on to the national office. Charter certificates, cards and information are mailed out from the state office. Louisiana is fortunate to have a full time director (district commander) to carry out the functions of the state program. Commander David Craun is in his 16th year as district commander. Commander Craun is supported by local churches similar to the way support is given to missionaries. He is responsible for raising the budget for the district level ministry. Funding for district support is needed and should be sent to the district office in Alexandria, Louisiana. Specific goals that have been established by the district committee are: 1. An increase of active outpost each year. 10% a year for the next 5 years. 2. Increase in the financial base. 5% increase a year. 3. Increase in local outpost membership. 10% a year 4. Education and promotion of Rangers in local churches. 50% a year 5. Leadership training increase. 15% increase a year 6. Continued development and updating of district sponsored events and camps. 7. Improved communications with pastors and local leaders. 8. Increase development of facilities and equipment to provide adequate structure for leading boys and training leaders. 9. Spirit led initiatives that capture the hearts of boys for Christ. 10. 100% of activities and events bring honor and glory to our Lord Jesus Christ. |
