The First Academy was held in 1975. Soon afterward, JLTC was added, and in order to retain older boys at Academy, the "Corps System" was instituted with Elite Corps in 1982, Special Forces in 1984, Pathfinders and JTT in 1986, and Elite Corps in 1998. With the shift to merit camps in 2000, A-Team, (9 year olds) Lightning Bolts (10 year olds) and PLTC. (Debuted in 1999 for 11 year olds) In 2002, to coincide with Discovery Rangers including 8 year olds, Super Falcons was established for them.

For Leaders, Academy Staff School began in 1983, and to train leaders for the advanced corps, Corps Leaders School was formed in 1989, with the graduates earning the Pathfinder beret and patch. Soon afterward, a seperate beret and cap was issued. In 2004, Academy Staff School merged into Corps Leaders School. Corps Leaders School, consisting of 6 Phases now, will have new patches issued in 2005-06. The patch designs will be listed only for reference until the new patches are issued.
